Demand Planner - Forecasting & Buying
The job
As a Demand Planner, you are responsible for forecasting demand, planning and executing biannual buying cycles, and managing stock levels across European markets. The role ensures optimal product availability while supporting commercial and financial objectives through effective inventory control and forward-looking, data-driven planning.
The role is based in Warmond (nearby Leiden) and is part of our Merchandise team, you will report into our Head of Merchandise.
Key accountabilities
As Demand Planner, you are responsible for pre-season activities focused on building accurate forecasts and executing effective buying cycles, as well as in-season responsibilities centered on forward-looking, forecast-led inventory management and the development of reporting and planning tools to support data-driven decision-making.
More specifically, you will focus on:
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Develop, maintain, and continuously refine demand forecasts across Wholesale and DTC channels
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Merchandising, Buying, and Finance to align forecasts with commercial and financial objectives
- Prepare and execute biannual buying cycles (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter)
- Monitor and improve forecast accuracy throughout buying cycles, guiding Sales and Merchandising to ensure the right product is available at the right time
- Support range planning and ensure budget adherence during buying processes
- Translate demand forecasts into purchase quantities at style, colour, and size level for production
- Coordinate with Customer Service and Production teams to place orders within agreed timelines
Inventory Management
- Translate business objectives into rolling forecasts and multi-season inventory outlooks
- Evolve inventory management from reactive stock control to proactive, forecast-led planning
- Define and manage target stock levels, coverage, and turnover based on long-term demand projections
- Collaborate with Wholesale teams on in-season stock ownership and allocation
- Support product lifecycle planning from introduction through phase-out
- Act as the data owner for demand and inventory insights
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with Wholesale Sales, Product Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Buying, and Customer Service
- Ensure alignment between forecasts, inventory strategy, and commercial growth plans
- Act as a key contributor to company-wide stock management initiatives
Who are you?
- 4–7 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or inventory planning within textiles, fashion, or consumer goods
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power Query and Power BI preferred
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Structured, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
