Are you ready to lead with positivity and drive in the dynamic world of retail? We're seeking a Retail Manager for our European operations who embodies a forward-thinking mindset and a passion for innovation. Your team consist of 3 Area Managers and one Retail operations Manager, you will report to the CEO.

Key accountabilities:

You are accountable for the overall retail management of O’Neill, such that:

  • Traffic in shops, units per transaction (upt) and sales per transaction (spt) is maximized;
  • Responsible for maintaining margin;
  • The shops and visual merchandising looks attractive, in accordance with the marketing strategy and brand position;
  • Area managers, Retail Operations Manager and Store staff are attracted, motivated and skilled to optimize the shopping turnover and serve the clients needs;
  • Retail is managed cost efficient to maximize profitability;
  • Trends and developments in consumer behavior and the retail market are acknowledged and translated;
  • Operational business/commercial information from O’Neill is analyzed and fact-based strategic and tactical choices are made on retail management;
  • The retail plan is in line with the overall commercial strategy and the relevant contribution/input is given from retail;
  • Opening new stores, closing and/or relocating stores.

Managing the daily operations of retail, such that:

  • Proper staffing at all stores is ensured;
  • Training of employees is provided and their job performance is enhanced;
  • Retail locations are visited frequently and sales performance and customer satisfaction level is evaluated and improved;
  • Input and qualitative feedback in the product development area based on consumer and store staff feedback is provided;
  • Inventory analysis are conducted and optimal stock levels are determined;
  • Market conform real estate deals are negotiated;
  • Retail operational standards (policies & procedures) are set and complied with health and safety legislation is ensured.

Developing and implementing a retail strategic plan and ensure it will be executed accordingly, such that:

  • The retail strategy is defined and in line with the company policy;
  • Organization needs are reflected and budgets are well managed;
  • Sales targets are set and action plans for achieving set objectives are implemented;
  • The overall look and feel of the stores is optimized.

Delivering annual business plans and budgets, defining the retail KPI’s and setting targets, such that:

  • Retail concepts are developed and implemented in line with the brand vision;
  • Annual business plans and budgets are delivered in time;
  • EBITDA and bottom line results are in line with signed of business plans;
  • Goal setting and realization of targets is ensured;
  • Performance is managed on an ongoing basis;
  • Operational excellence is ensured.

Gives direction, shows leadership and supervision of the retail organization, such that:

  • Result oriented goals with the store managers are made, performance is monitored and if needed adjusted;
  • Communication towards the store managers and teams is clear, transparent and in a comprehensive and engaged manner;
  • The store managers are facilitated and coached in their required development and stimulated in their talents and strengths;
  • Cross functional cooperation with other business disciplines is stimulated and coordinated;
  • An ideal work environment is created within the teams;
  • The performance objectives of the teams are achieved;
  • Systems, procedures and processes are organized in such a manner to enhance the performance objectives.

Who are you?

  • 8-10 years thorough orientation on the retail industry (in comparable business models in sport/fashion) and specific broad expertise on retail management / area management roles;
  • Understanding of financial management and budget processes;
  • Affinity with processes and data;
  • Excellent in English both verbal and written;
  • Ability to travel 40%.
